NSS Activities 2023-24

1)  NSS Units of Khalsa College organised an event on “No Polythene Day” on 14^th September, 2023 to create awareness about harmful effects of using polythene bags on the environment and surroundings. Posters were prepared by the students of various departments. The posters were displayed in the classroom to create awareness and encourage them to keep their environment clean.

2) NSS units celebrated Chandrayan on 15/09/2023. Students participated by making posters of successful landing of Chandrayan on the moon. 

3) NSS Units of Khalsa College Amritsar organized a One Day event on “Water Conservation” on 18/09/2023.  The main theme of the program was to conserve water by various means at the level of individual and families. More than 100 students participated in the event and gained knowledge about water conservation.

4) NSS Units of Khalsa College Amritsar organized a One Day Seminar on “Bhai Ghanayia Ji: Life and Philosophy” on 20/09/2023.  The main theme of the program was to sensitize the students about the moral values gained from the life of Bhai Ghanayia Ji. More than 150 students participated in the event and gained knowledge about the life of Bhai Sahib Ji. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh was the keynote speaker of this event.

5) NSS students participated in a One Day Tree plantation Programme in the college on 20/09/2023. Students planted saplings in the college ground. Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal of the college started the event by planting a tree himself.

6) The NSS Units of Khalsa College, Amritsar organized an event on the theme ‘Safai Mitra event’ on 22^nd September 2023 under the leadership of Dr. Zorawar Singh and Dr Seozy Bhatia. Senior students of Agriculture department shared their experiences of NSS working in the past in the college. They further recited poems on Importance of cleanliness in one’s life and for society. Further, team of NSS volunteers went to clean college and its surroundings.

7)  Sadbhawna Diwas was organized on 26-9-2023 in which more than 60 students took the Sadbhawna oath for social wellbeing.

8) The NSS Units of Khalsa College, Amritsar organized an event on the theme ‘Garbage Free Cities’ on 27^th September 2023. Many Students participated in poster-making/Slogan-writing events. They made posters and wrote slogans on the theme mentioned above.  The volunteers also participated in the cleanliness drive and cleaned many college parks.

9) The NSS Units of Khalsa College, Amritsar organized an event on the theme 'Ek Tareekh Ek Ghanta' on 1^st Oct 2023. The volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive and cleaned the college's surroundings. The volunteers also conducted an awareness drive to encourage people to clean their surroundings and environment.

10) A One Day Cleanliness Drive was organized in the college campus on 04/10/2023. More than 50 students participated in the event. The programme was organized to clean the college campus and grounds. Students also made posters to make other students aware about the need to clean our environment.

11) National Service Scheme Units of Khalsa College organised “Free Dental Health Check-up Camp” on 6^th October, 2023 in collaboration with Clove Dental Clinic to create awareness about Dental health. A three-member Dental team guided by Dr. Nandini (MDS), Oral surgeon came for the Dental checkup in Department of Physiotherapy. More than hundred students participated in the event where their teeth were examined and free consultation was provided.

12) NSS students participated in the Hope Cup organized by the Government of Punjab at the premises of Sri Harmandar Sahib Ji on 18/10/2023. More than 100 students participated in the event.

13) NSS units organized a Blood Donation Camp on 01/11/2023 in the college campus in collaboration with Government Hospital Blood Bank. More than 50 students donated their precious blood.

14) NSS units celebrated Flag Day on 07/12/2023.  The main theme of the program was to sensitize the students about Flag Day. 7th December is observed as the Armed Forces Flag Day throughout the country to honor the martyrs and the men in uniform who valiantly fought on our borders to safeguard the country's honor. More than 100 students participated in the event. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh stressed upon inculcating the values learnt from the lives of our brave soldiers.  

15)  NSS Units of Khalsa College Amritsar organized a “Voter Awareness Pledge program” on 04/03/2024. This day was observed with the objective to encourage national integration, peace, affection, and communal harmony among the students of the college. It also highlighted on importance of voting to right person. An oath was taken on the occasion in which more than 60 students participated.

16) Students of NSS units of Khalsa College participated in a one day Blood Donation Camp on 22-03-2024 in collaboration with Hargun Hospital, Amritsar. More than 40 students participated in this program and donated precious blood to save humanity.

17) NSS unit of Khalsa College, Amritsar participated in Harmony Walk in collaboration with International Sikh Confederation from Khalsa College to Rialto Chowk on 26-03-2024 to celebrate the legacy of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. More than 80 students participated in this program. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh addressed the gathering of peace lovers and flagged off the bicyclers.
